Getting here

By Air

From the UK, you can fly to Oslo, Alesund or Bergen from any major airport via British Airways, Ryan Air, SAS Norway, Norwegian and many more. From Oslo you can take a connecting flight to Vigra-Alesund. Once there, we can arrange transfers to Flatoy. Same applies to those flying to Bergen.

By Road & Ferry

For those wishing more freedom on the road, Norway is the country for you. You can drive without seeing another car for hours. The coastal roads offer beautiful scenery on every corner you take and every mountain bend with rivers, waterfalls, lakes and forests that will amaze you. Make sure you bring loads of camera film; you are in danger of becoming trigger happy here.

From England you can get the ferry from Newcastle, there are two sailings each week going to Bergen. For more information regarding sailing schedules and prices, go to www.dfds.com

From Bergen you follow the coast road E39 which, heads north to Alesund. That will lead you to Oppedal where you cross one of the fjords with the ferry over to Lavik. Crossing time is approximately 30 minutes. You continue on the E39 to Anda where again you cross the fjord with a ferry to Lote. Crossing time is only 10 minutes. Continue on E39 to Nordfjordeid then, change to road 15. When you reach Maurstad, turn to road 61 where you drive all the way to Aram. Catch the last ferry over to Voksa, crossing time is 15 minutes.

Once at Voksa, all you need to do is call us and we will gladly come and collect you. Flatoy is the island 5 minutes away overlooking Voksa. The whole journey from Bergen to Flatoy will take approximately 7 to 9 hours, depending on ferry schedules. We advise you to stay the night over in Bergen and start an early morning drive to Flatoy or, break the journey into a 2 or 3 day trip, stopping in Nordfjordeid.

At winter time, we would not recommend driving these roads as, weather conditions freeze and ice the roads and unless you have winter tyres, driving can be very dangerous. For those not wishing the long drive, you can always catch the hurtigruta (boat) from Bergen over night to Torvik which, goes along the coast up north. Travel time is 11-12 hours. From there you go to Larsnes where you catch the ferry to Voksa.

We hope you enjoy your trip.
